Farm activities

As well as welcoming people from all over the world, the Zampi family works on the farm of Casa Bistino.
Our work changes with the passing of the seasons.
In January, February and March we work in the vineyards and olive groves, pruning and cleaning the plants so they are ready for the growing season when it begins in the spring.
With the arrival of the warmer months, in April, May and June we sow the seeds of what we will harvest in Summer and Autumn.
Every year we plant a new vegetable patch, and we lovingly tend to our tomatoes, green beans, courgettes, lettuce, peppers... just as we tend to our apples, pears and plums in the orchard.
Towards the middle of September we begin picking the precious bunches of grapes which will become our Chianti wine.
In October we harvest the sweet corn which will be dried and used during the winter to feed the animals on the farm.
In November and December we harvest the olives, a process which we still do by hand.
